It's desire* that keeps us moving—even the simplest ones. The daily cravings of our bodies compel us to get out of bed in the morning. And the promise of a better tomorrow drives us to improve, explore, and seek what truly matters—the purpose of life.
Hey Reader,
Happy Monday! How are you feeling today?
Sometimes I feel like what I want in this life is not even my choice. A heart wants what it wants.
I find myself craving the will for simplicity, not needing anything anymore because wanting things, not having them, and yearning for them so deeply sometimes really hurts, does it not?
*When I say "desire" I don't mean the strong sexual attraction but a strong feeling that you want something.
What Is Desire?
Have you ever wondered why you want what you want? Maybe you even tried to suppress this idea for a while but it persisted.
Desires come from the depths of our subconscious minds. It's our motivation to act and become who we are meant to be.
Sometimes they are fun. Sometimes they are a lesson on our way to become who we need to be in order to receive what is meant for us.
And because it comes from so deep within you, it came a long way to your consciousness - it's a miracle you're even conscious of it. It's a gift. And it's not a coincidence it came to you. It came because it is for you and it's a part of you.
Sometimes I would find myself impatient, regretting that I want what I want.
But not having wants and desires is possibly even worse than wanting something badly and not getting it in a timely manner.
I have an uncle who never really wanted anything. He was always so okay with how things were, that included food he ate, old and uncomfortable bed he slept on, the way he spent all his days in front of a TV, without any human contact all day long.
And it made me wonder, how is it to not want anything at all? Must be nice? Is this... freedom?
I'm not claiming he was unhappy. Who am I to judge, for all I know he could have been having the time of his life.
But it prompted a reflection in me that I'd rather want something and not get it, but have something to look forward to and hope for, than to have a desireless existence.
Your Desires
= Your Destiny
↓
All that you desire is meant for you. They guide us to the deepest desires of all: self-discovery. Connection with Self. It appears in your mind like a seed.
And within every seed lies everything it needs for its own expression.
An apple seed becomes an apple tree. Apple trees bear apples.
A sunflower seed becomes a sunflower. Sunflowers bear sunflower seeds.
And so on.
So, what are YOU being? What will YOU bear?
The ideas that pop into your mind are these seeds.
All you need to do is plant them, water them with love, and then—let them be.
Overwatering won’t speed up the process.
Over-fertilizing won’t speed up the process.
Staring at it won’t speed up the process.
Picking at it to see if it’s sprouted won’t speed up the process.
So why do we do this with our desires?
When a desire comes to you, see it as a gift. A gift that brings you closer to your true nature. Your teacher in awakening.
"Oh wow, thank you! I will definitely experience this. How exciting!"
Thank you, Father. Thank you, Father.
And in the meantime, engage with what fills you with wonder.
What makes you gasp in awe—a songbird, a tree, a stranger’s laughter, the Moon half-veiled by clouds in the night sky.
It’s all going to be okay. 😊
And remember:
You are brave.
You are loved.
Be kind to yourself!
With Love,
Marta
